Going Green

At Reed MIDEM we believe in acting responsibly within our work environment. We would like MIPIM Asia to serve as a forum to help companies worldwide exchange innovative ideas and find achievable green solutions. By working together we can all positively contribute to the future of individual businesses and global industries while protecting our environment.

Green-themed conferences at MIPIM Asia

The real estate industry's environmental awareness is increasingly becoming a top-level priority. MIPIM Asia 2007’s conference programme highlighted some of the crucial issues affecting the industry, in particular areas concerning the sustainable development in real estate, through a special Green conference track co-organised by ULI.

Now that the phenomenon of climate change seems to be shifting attitudes towards the understanding that actions at a local level have global consequences, will markets begin to reflect this change and demand sustainable practices in real estate development? A group of prominent ULI members shared their experience and views about how the practice of sustainable development can shape the communities of the future.

Although investment and development opportunities can be found throughout Asia, some Asian markets are relatively easy to work in with transparent entitlement systems and somewhat predictable outcomes. Other markets, however, are less transparent and still others rather opaque. Michael Pawlukiewicz (Senior Research Director, Asia, ULI), Jane Murray (Head of Asia Pacific Research, Jones Lang LaSalle) and Randolph Lyon (Senior Director, Sama Dubai) delivered a conference on how sustainable design helps make outcomes more rewarding in these circumstances.
